Hockey is offered
as a winter sport
at Sans Souci and we have three teams entered in the
League. Practices are held twice weekly and matches are played on Saturday
mornings. Sans Souci boasts two hockey fields and most of the matches are
played at home.
BEGINNERS' HOCKEY: MONDAY 8 AUGUST 2005
They played their
first match yesterday against Springfield. During the first half the
players seemed completely overawed and overwhelmed. It was their first time
playing together as a full team. After half time, the nerves had settled,
and they pulled themselves together offering constructive defense. They
learnt a lot, but now they have a much better idea of the level of
commitment and focus required. The morale of the team was not helped by the
fact that one of the key building players did not arrive. Team games
require full commitment from the whole team. I was proud of their behaviour,
both on and off the field. We will do better next time, and go from
strength to strength.

PGSGU TOURNAMENT U19: REPORT 16 SEPTEMBER
2005
On Saturday, 10
September, the 1st team participated in the PGSGU Tournament on Astroturf at
Hartleyvale. Playing against significantly stronger teams and on an
unfamiliar playing surface, the team gave a good account of themselves.
This team has made a pleasing improvement throughout the season. Thanks to
the family, friends and staff who showed their support.
U16 TEAM report: 16 SEPTEMBER 2005
The U16 Girls braved
pouring rain and very strong competition in their games for the tournament
that took place at Rustenburg Girls' High last Saturday, but in spite of
this they enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Unfortunately, the tournament had
to be cancelled. The girls are, however, very positive and are already
looking forward to next year's challenges.
1st team report: 9 SEPTEMBER 2005
The match on Saturday,
03 September, went well. The team showed an improvement in skills and
positional play. Although they lost 3-0, they can be proud of their
performance.
U19 HOCKEY report: 26 AUGUST 2005
The team played an
exciting match against Springfield last Saturday, winning 4-1. Well
done, on the continued improvement in teamwork!
BEGINNERS HOCKEY: 26 AUGUST 2005
Their first match was played in the
pouring rain against St Cyprians U14B team. For some of the girls, it was
their first time using full length sticks. They played with much enthusiasm
and only conceded one goal. I was very proud of the marvellous team spirit,
and support for each other.
HOCKEY REPORT: 26 AUGUST 2005
On 20th August we
played a match against Springfield. Kyly Jones and Tamzyn Fabing both had a
very good match. Maya Spence, a new member to the team and an exchange
student from Germany, also had a great game. A special thank you, to Mr &
Mrs Hendricks, for the wonderful doughnuts after the game.
1st team report: 19 AUGUST 2005
Congratulations on
your fine performance - winning 9-0 against Rustenburg Girls’ High.
Although the opposition was without a goalie for the first half, goals
scored in the second half proved that our team was still the stronger side.

done to Yusra for playing goalie!

Westerford's team was
way too strong for us, but all compliments to our girls who never gave up
and gave their all throughout the match. The parents of our opponents were
very impressed with our goalie, who played brilliantly. Well done, Loren
Theron-Miller !!
U16 MATCH REPORT: 22 aPRIL 2005
Although we lost our
