RHODES SCHOLARSHIP

The Rhodes Scholarship, named after Cecil John Rhodes, is an international postgraduate award for selected students to study at Oxford University. It is widely acknowledged as the world’s most prestigious scholarship by many public sources; including Time, Yale University Press, The McGill Reporter and Associated Press.

Rhodes Scholars may study any fulltime postgraduate course offered by Oxford University; whether a master’s programme, a research degree, or a second undergraduate degree.

The Rhodes Trust pays university and college fees in full and scholars receive a monthly maintenance stipend to cover accommodation and living expenses.

For more than a century, Rhodes scholars have left Oxford with virtually any job available to them. For much of this time, they have overwhelmingly chosen paths in scholarship, teaching, writing, medicine, scientific research, law, the military and public service. They have reached the highest levels in virtually all fields.

Sans Souci pupils are now eligible to apply for both ‘SACS Rhodes Scholarship’ and the ‘South Africa at Large Rhodes Scholarship’. This is a great honour and privilege and we trust that our alumnae will take full advantage of this opportunity. All who may qualify are earnestly encouraged to visit the Rhodes Scholarship website and apply in August 2017. (www.ox.ac.uk)
